A communication was read from the State Railroad Coaznis-
sionh relative to ,a gearing before that t body to fix rates and rules

of Wing and Moeher said letters were ordered filed.

on the Circle to the Davis Aute Service and the Peninsula Rapid
Transit Co., also reeommendin' the enactment of an ordinance re-
gulating th.e'keeping of poultry. The report was ordered filed.

A report was received from the Board of Public Works,
tranernitting a resolution paseed by .eaid Board recorr:,ending that
certain street work be done as described in said resolution.

Said report of said Board also reeomraended tha t the coo -
tract for constructing, sidev.a?k and curb on the southwesterly side
of High street, between Chanriing anc3. Addison avenues, be awarded
to George Casey.

Chairman Thoite of Committee #4 reported for his com-
mittee that a statement of the expenses incurred in the trial of
the suit of Benjamin Thomas vs the City of Palo Alto had been
filed by the City Attorney, and recommended that an appropriation
of ”5.00 additional to the appropriation of $250.e0 made• on Sept.
23, 1915, be made from the general fund to meet the expenses cf,
said suit.
!Molts and Congdon moved that an apnroPria;tion of $55.0
be made from the general fund for said purpose. The Motion was
passed. by the following vote on roll call:
Ayes: Condon, Cooley, Jordan, Peterson, Roller, Snyder,
Thoits, Wing.
Noes: Mosher.
Excused from voting, Cramer.

,Attorney -had presented. a request that he be allowed 3150.O to
compensate him for extraordinary legal, work for the city during
the past three months, and recommended on appropriation for tit

An ordinance entitledi "An. ordinance regulating the keeoing
of poultry and animals," was given first reading and referred to
Committee #2.
Vote on_ Award of Contract Rescinded_
On motion of Wing and Snyder the action. *.:. ounci _
taken at this meeting relating to award of contrast for construct-
iffg- sidewalk and curb on High S:7eet was rescinded, owing to an
error in said resolution of Award, -by unanimous vote on roll call.

for a permit to build a small shed to replace a larger-- and di-
lapidated shed at the rear of 301 University avenue, in the fire
limits.

Wing and Jordan moved that the recommendation of the
Board of Public Worl:s,presented at the Council on Sept.

Cooley suggested that it might be advisable to place
lights on University avenue between the Circle and the State
Highway.
On motion of ..ping and Cooley the City engineer was asked

Y. J.. Fairfield addressed the Council as to theI, rental
charged for private fire service 'Sleterst-under Ordinance #71.
On notion of Wing and Snyder the matter was referred to Committee
#1 to report.

Councilman Snyder presented complaints and suggestions
relative to the profane language used by the employees of the
contractor who is laying pipe lines; to the desirability of hav-
ing the trenches where pipe:: have been laid well filled and set-
tled,; and to the need. of keepinF the Circle free from the con-
gestion of automobi1ee.
