RESOLUTION =CLAIM RUULTS OF TIN CaNVASS Of

AS GAME TER�,A1ATION 1-A FOR THE PURPOSE
OF AUSI/NG SAID TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
WHEREAS, an election was duly palled and held on the 18th
day of August, 1959, in certain territory adjacent to the City of
Palo Alto particularly described in Resolution 3115 and designated
as "Garden Terrace Annexation 1-A"; and
HABEAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto has, in accord-
ance with law in such cases made and provided, met at its regular
meeting on Monday, August 24, 1959, in the Council Chamber in the
City Hall of said City, at the hour of 7:30 p.m., and has duly
canvassed the returns of said special election as certified by the
Election Board, and finds from said canvass that the total number
of votes given and cast at the polls at sa'.d election was 73
votes; that of said total number of votes so given and cast, there
was given and cast in favor of said annexation 63 votes and there
was given and cast against said annexation 10 votes; that in
addition to the ballots regularly given and cast at the polls, there
were 8 absentee ballots of which absentee ballots there was
*given and cast in favor of said annexation 8 votes and against said
annexation 0 votes; that the total votes given and,cast for ':he
annexation of said territory to the City of Palo Alto was - 71 votes;
'-.hat the total number of votes cast against the annexation of said
territory to the City of Palo Alto was 10 votes.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Council does find,
• determine and declare that the necessary majority of the votes
cast in said outside territory required by law to be cast, was in
• favo• r of said annexation; that the proposition submitted to said
electors was as follows:

"Shall Garden Terrace Annexation 1-A be annexed to
the City of Palo Alto and the property in the terri-
tory subjected to taxation after annexation equally
with the property within the City of Palo Alto to
pay the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of

Palo Alto outstanding or authorized at the date of
the first publication of this notice of election
for the acquisition, construction or completion of
municipal improvements?"
The City Clerk of the City of Palo Alto is hereby directed
to cause a report of the canvass of returns of said election by
this City Council to be entered upon the minutes of the Council
meeting of this date, showing the total number of votes cast,
the number of votes cast in favor of said annexation and the
number of votes cast against said annexation.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed at a regular meeting of the Council of the
City of Palo Alto held on Mpnday, the 2,411 day of Mania
by the following vote:
AYES:
Byxbee, Davis, Evans, Giffin, Haight, Marshall, Mitchell,
Rodgers, Stephens, Zweng.
NOES: None.
ABSENT:
Bishop, Mavis, Porter, Woodward.
NOT VOTING:
