A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
GIVING NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
UNINHABITED AND UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY IN THE COUNTY
OF SANTA CLARA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, CONTIGUOUS TO THE
CITY OF PALO ALTO, DESIGNATED AS " FOOTHILLS ANNEXATION
NO. 3" AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE FOR
HEARING OF PROTESTS THERETO
WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory
Act of 1939," there has been presented to the Council of the City
of Palo Alto a petition dated April 2, 1959 executed by George F.
Morell, Millard F. Blair, John F. Dahl, Ina R. Dahl, Dorothy
Weddle, Raymond P. Weddle, Alyce Burns, Mildred Scott Ligda,
James W. Foley, ai . a petition dated April 13, 1959 executed by
William A. Mead, Dorothea B. Mead, Earle C. Hart, Adelle L. Hart
and Richard E. Falconer requesting the annexation of that certain
property situated in the County of Santa Clara, State of California,
and described on Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof.
WHEREAS, said territory is uninhabited, unincorporated terri-
tory contiguous to the City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, said petition is executed by the owners of not less
than one-fourth of the land in such territory by area and assessed
value as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County .
of Santa Clara, State of California, in which such territory is '
situated; and
WHEREAS, the County Boundary Commission of.Santa Clara.County.',
California, has approved the proposed annexation'bourtdari;es••of'•aai.i

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, by th8• ,Council .o£ ,.the City.:of '

Section 1. That pursuant to the. "M azatLon: o '.Uninhabited

Section 3. The 22nd day of -... June , 1959, at the hour of
7:30 p. m, of said day, in the Council Chambers in the City Hall
in the City of Palo Alto, County of Santa Clara, State of California,
is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where any person
owning real property within the uninhabited territory above des-
cribed and proposed to be annexed to the City of Palo Alto and
having any objections to the proposed annexation may appear before
the Council of the City of Palo Alto and show cause why such un-
inhabited territory should not be so annexed to said City of Palo
Alto. Such protest must be in writing, may be filed at any time
before the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed annexa-
tion, and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of
property affected and the description and area of such property in'
general terms.
Section 4, The City Clerk of the City of Palo Alto is hereby
authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be
published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the
Palo Alto Times, a newspaper of general circulation published in
said City of Palo Alto, the city to which it is proposed to annex
the aforesaid territory, and also in the San Jos.- Post -Record,
a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City of
Palo Alto but in the County of Santa Clara, California, the county
in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to the
city, said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to
the date set for the hearing.
And the said City Clerk is further authorized and directed to
cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to
each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be
annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll
