made to pay the expenses of said suit in the superior court and

Mr. Hettinger suggested that four (or at least two) tele-

The city attorney made a report of a conference held by

ficials of the Southern Pacific Company in the mater of the pro-
posed subway at Palo Alto avenue. A tentative agreement had been
reached by the parties in interest to construct such a subway with-
in one year, and a bend issue would be necessary to meet the ex-
pense that would be incurred by the city.
