The Council of the City of Palo ,lto met on this date at
8 p.m., pursuant to the following call:

Mayor Jordan presided and roll call was as follows:
Present: Ackley, Allen, Congdon, Henry., :Hettinger, Jordan,, LaPeire
Mosher, Vail.
Absent: Downing, Swain, Thoirs, tm-lh.ieys, Vandervoort, ti1irig.
Purchase of Diesel Engine Aut^oeizec.
The 1ayor stated the purpose of the meeting and called
upon the City Engineer, who made a statement of the conditions in
connection with the bids received for a Diesel engine and electric
generator. A statement was also made by r. A.Bu.cha.n„ chairman Of
the Board- of•.Pu.blic Works. Mr. Haas, representing the Koerting
Bros. Co. spoke in regard to the bid and guarantees of his company.
On motion of Mosher and Lageire the following. resolution,,'
recommended by the Board of Public Works, was .adopted by unanimo:,s
vote on roll call:
"'That, Whereas, the City o: Palo Alto, on recommendation
of its City Engineer and the Board ef Public Works, desireeS to PurH,•
chase a Diesel. Oil r;ngine and Generator for the Palo Alto Municip 1
Power Plant; and - -
Wherec s, the cost of said engine and generator and in,it ,.-'
ation will exceed the bond issue for said. objects and purposes by
the sum of approximately eight thousand dollars; and,
Vhereas, the saving in fuel ei1 consumption will pay this
excess of the bond issue in about two years;

sand Collars be and. the same is eereby appropriated out of the nom*
provided for and set aside for the purchase of fuel oil.
