The Council of the City of Palo Alto met in regular ses-
sion on this date at 8 p.m. , with Mayor Jordan presiding. Roll
call as follows:
Present: Ackley, Allen, Conwdon, Henry, rettine:er, Jordan, laPeire
Swain, Thoits, Umphreys, Vail, Wing.
Absent: Downing, Mosher, Vandervoort.
The minutes of the regular meetinE of May 12th 1915, were
read and ordered corrected to show that V31a voted "no" on the mo-
tion to amend Ordinance No. 90, relatinz to the sale of obacco and
cigarettes. The minutes were approved as corrected.

A communication was received from H.1;. ;,i:mkins relatir -, to
a suggested change in the ordinance regulating the construction of
buildings in the fire limits. Yr. Simkins addressed the Council,
asking that the ordinance be changed to give the ;'ire Commissioner
discretion t0 permit the removal of buildings in the fire limits
more than ten feet and to permit o anA?_ in construction where in
his judgment the fire hazard would be lessened.
