Absent: Ackley, :Downing, Hyde, Wing,'.

Delegate to League Convention.
A communication was read from the League of California
Municipalities inviting; the City of Palo Alto to send delegates to
the .League convention to be held in Berkeley, September 23rd to
2Qth, 1912. Hettinger moved that five delegates be elected, two of
whom should be City Engineer Byxbee and City Attorney Yal colm,t};gee
to' be chosen' by ballot, the expenses of said delegates to be paid by
the City. The Motion was seconded by L. Peire and adopted by unan-
imous vote on roil call.
The first ballot resulted in the choice of Mayor Jordan and
City Clerk Kasson. On the sixth ballot Councilman Thoi t s was elect-
ed.

The report of they Department of public Works
and of the treasurer. for Auk gas t 1912 were received and
for July 1912
ordered filed.
Resolution of Intension Ado-ted.
A resolution of intention to improve Emerson street betmmt
the northwest property line of Cha.nnin g avenue and the southeast
property line of Forest avenue, where the same is not already im-
proved, and to grade and pave the intersection of Forest avenue and
ymerson street, was passed by unanimous vote on roll call. This
was the reinacrnsert of said resolution previously passed. on Aug;:st
12th, 1912
Ordinance Anending Ordinance No. %,7',--L it.
An ordinance amending ordinance No 75 was introduced as.
an emergency measure. Said ordinance failed of enactment by the
following vote on roll call:
Ayes: Congdon, Jordan, Mosher, Swain, Taros mss, Vail.
Noes: Henry, Hettinger, L.. Peire, Umphreyti, Vandervoort.
The ordinance was referred to Committee No. 2.
Regarding Election of Council -a...
Mayor Jordan brought up the matter of the election of a
successor to Councilman Hyde. On motion of !Teener and Congdon action
was deferred until the :text meeting.
Claims Allowed.
On notion of Vail and Swain, the following claims, approves
by Committee' No. 5, were allowed and warrants ordered drawn in pa,,'s e: 12 '
of same by unanimous vote on roll call:
