The Council of the .-amity of Palo Alto Met in re'R iz r ses-
sion on thin date at ij p.m., with 'rayor Jordan presiding. Roll
call as follows:
Present: Ackley, Congdon, Dowding, Henry, Hettinger, Hyde, Jordan,
:usher, Th.oits, U: phreys, Vail, Vandervoox t
Absent: La Peire, Swain, Wing.
The miinutee of the regular "!Oeti g of July %ith, 1912,
the adjourned regular meeting of July 15th, 1912, and the special
meeting of July 20th, 1912, were read and approved as read.

The minutes of the City Council, sitting as a Board of
. qua1izatior..on August 5th, 1912, were read and approved as read.

Mrs. J. C. Templeton and Mrs. 4,. E, Vaal addressed the
Council in reference to the support o-' the rest room maintained by
the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, and asked that an appro-
priation in aid of the same be made.
Vail and Mosher :novena that the matter be referred to
Committee No. $, with the recommendation that said committee favor-
ably consider an appropriation of V00.
Umphrey3 and Hettinger made a substitute motion that h
:Satter be referred to Committee No. 4. The substitute motion was
adopted by the following vote on roll call:

On motion of Vail and Ackley, the matter was referred to
Committee No. 4 with the suggestion that anyone interested confer

The reports of the treasurer for July 1912, and of the

The chairman of Committee No. x reported t'nat the or; finance

The chairman of Committee No. 4 reported that said Committee
;2.s, as authorized by the Council, purchased the entire issue of

port of Percy G. Goode,, certified accountant, on the finances of the
city for the year ending June 30, 1'12, has begin received.
On motion of Congdon and Vail, Committee No. 5 was author-
ized to have the annual report of the City printed in pamphlet form,
as required by the Charter, by unanimous vote on roll call.
On motion of Congdon and Thoits, the following claims re-
ported from Committee No. 5, were allowed and warrants ordered .raven

Congdon moved than when the Council adjourn, it adjourn to
kgust 26th, 1912, for the consideration of the budget. The mo Sian
was seconded by Downing and adopted.
