The Council of the 'Ci ty of Palo Alto met, pursuant to ad- journment, on this date at 8 p.m., with Mayor Jordan presiding. '.larica.'ice No. 1 !Y Bond Election, Adq eIJ• Ordinance No. 73, entitled "an ordinance calling a special election in the City of Palo Alto, county of Santa Clara, State of California, for th urpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said city, several propositions to incur a bonde'. indebtedness to pay the cost of certain public municipal improvements in said city, the cost of which is too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual in- come and revenue of said city," was given final reading. Millis roved that the ordinance be amended to read that one -fortieth part of the bonds proposed in propositions' One, Pi.ve and. Six, aggregating ta33,000 shall be paid each and every year, and that one -fifteenth part of the bonds proposed in propositions Two, Three and ",our, aggregating x34,000 shall be paid each and every year. The motion was seconded by ling and adopted by unanimous vote. On motion of Wing and Ackley, the ordinance as amended was adopted by unanimous vote on roll call. Memorial Day heDor t. City Attorney Malcolm, to• whom was referred at the pre- vious meeting the -request of McKinley Post, G..A.:2. , for an appropri- ation to aid in observing Memorial Day, reported that the Council does not have the legal power to make such an appropriation. Jrdinance No. 74 Control of Public Jtilit.Aes, a:.oPt ed. Millis, reported from committee, on Ordinance No. 74, in- troduced and given first reading at the meeting held on April 8th, 1912-, with the recommendation that the same be adopted. Millis and Wing moved the adoption of Ordinance No. 74, entitled "an ordinance providing for a special election to be held in the City of Palo Alto for the object and purpose of submitting • to the electors of said city the question whether the City of Palo' lto shall retain its powers of control respecting certain classes of public utilities." The motion was seconded by Wing. Councilmen Hettinger and. Ackley stated that while not committing themselves to the question, they were willing to submit the same to a vote of the electors. On roll call the motion was adopted by the following rote: Ackley, Henry, Hettinger, Hyde, La Peire, Thoits, Umphreys, Vandervoort, Wing.
