The Council of the City of Palo Alto met on the above
date,pursuant to the following call;
'We, the following members of the Council of the City
of Palo Alto, hereby call a meeting of said Council to be held
1or.day, July 31st, 1911, at 8 p.m., for the purpose of consid-
ering and taking action upon printing the Codified Ordinances of
the City, the sale of bonds, and preliminary consideration of the
budget.

Contract for Frintin.fa Codified Ordinances.
The Auditing and Accounts Committee presented the follow -
in; report:
"To the Honorable the Council of the City of Palo Alto:
Gentlemen.: Your committee on Auditing and Accounts has received
bids. for printing the Codified Ordinances of the City of Palo Alto
as follows:
The Citizen, 1000 copies $900.00
F. A. Stuar.., 1000 " 546.00
Times Pub. Col000 " 500.00
J. A. Quel:c e 1000 400.00
J.A.Quelle 2000 " 550.00
Your Committee recommends that a contract be entered into
With J.A. Quelle to print 2000 copies at the price quoted. Your
cOmittee further recommends that 500 copies of the Charter and
toendments thereto be printed and bound separately at an approximate
cost of $30.00."
On motion of Mosher and Congdon the report was accepted and
the recommendations adopted by unanimous vote on roll call.

Consideration of Budget.
Milils moved that as soon as the estimates by the various
departments of the city government for the annual budget are com-
pleted they be turned over to the Ways & : eans Committee. The mo-
tion was seconded by Hyde and adopted.
Resolution Passed Acceptini: Bids :or Bonds.
Millis, Chairman of the W'Jeys & Means ns Commi ttee, rspor ted
=;`t his Committee had referred the matter of the bid of G. G.
3 ye & Co. for the purchase of '30, 500.09 of the bones, voted
on April 8,' 1911, to the Council without recommendation.
A. resolution was introduced on motion of Vail and Downing
entitled *A resolution providing for the sale of 'Palo Alto Public
Service Bonds,' issued in accordance with the provisions of Ordi-
a"•Ce No. 55 of the City of Palo Alto."
The Mayor called Mr. Hyde to the chair and spoke to the
:lotion. The matter was di scuesed at some length by other members
of the Council. The motion •to adopt the resolution was passed by
the following vote on roll call.
Ayes: Congdon, Downing, Hyde, i:.i:.s Mosher, T ioit s, Umphreys,
Vail.
Noes: Ackley, Hettinger, Jordan, La Peire .
Ordinance No. 55 --First Readin,<-..
Ordinance No. 55, entitled: "A^ ordinance _..rovidinT for
the incurring of a bonded indebtedness for the City' of Palo Alto,
in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, in the sum of
$30,500.00 in gold coin of the UnitPd States of America, to pay
the cost of certain public municipal improvements of said City,
and providing for the issuance 3f bonds evidencing sash indebt-
edness," was introduced and given first reading.
On motion of Hyde and. Hettinger the clerk was instruct-
ed to notify Messrs. G.O.Bly. yer & Co. that at a special meeting
a resolution accepting their bid was passed and that an ordinance
providing for the issuance of the bonds would come up for final
action at a regular meeting on August 14, e 9 e 1 .
Thoits moved that it be expressed as the sense of the
Council that the City Officials employed by the Council be granted
a two weeks' vacation under salary if they have been employed for
one year, and one week's vacation if employed during six months.
The motion, was seconded by Mosher and passed.
On motion of Millis and Vail the Council adjourned.
