FUND. ARE AVAILABLE TO THE CITY OF PALO
ALTO TO PAY ITS SHARE or TICE ESTIMATED
COST or THE OREQOX AVVIVII6MACIA ALL
ROAD GRADE SEPARATION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Section 190 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of California provides that commencing with the 1958-59 fiscal year, the sum
of five million dollars ($5.000,000) ahall be set aside for allocations to grade
separation projects of separation of grade districts, cities, cities and counties,
and counties on county roads or city streets as provided in Sections 189-191,
inclusive, of that code.
WHEREAS, an allocation may be made by the Highway Commission of
the State of California and the Department of Public Works of the State of
California of one-half of the estimated cost, after deducting therefrom any
contribution to be made by the railroad corporations involved., towards any
project which qualifies therefor under the provisions of said sections.
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the Oregon Avenue -Page Mill Road
Grade Separation Project is $2,266,259, and;
WHEREAS, the Southern Pacific Company has agreed to pay $230, 850
as its share of the cost of the project, and;
WHEREAS, it is proposed that the remaining estimated coat of the
project is to be shared equally by the City of Palo Alto and the Department of
Public Works, of the State of California, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is eligible to file and will submit an
application for an allocation of $1,017.704.50 from the Highway Commission
of the State of California and the Department of Public Works of the State of
California, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto will be required to pay an estimated
$1,017,704.50 ad its share of the cost of the project, and;
WHEREAS the City of Palo Alto has appropriated $401, 722 for this
purpose, and;
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Palo Alto has allocated an additional
$300, 000 in a separate fund for this purpose, and;
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto shall make an additional
appropriation of the balance of the funds required by the City for this purpose,
and estimated to be $315, 982.50, in the 1958-59 fiscal year.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Palo Alto
that sufficient funds are available to the City of Palo Alto to pay its share of the
estimated cost of the Oregon. Avenue -Page Mill Road Grade Separation Project.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
passed at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Palo Alto on June 9,
1958 by the following vote:
Bishop, Byxbee, Cresap, Davis, Evans, Giffin, Marshall,
AXES: Mitohell, Porter, Rodgers, Ruppenthal, Stephens, Woodward.
NOES: None .
ABSENT: Corcoran, Mavis.
