A RESOLUTION BY TE3 OOUNGIL OP TEE CITY OF PALO AElt'O PROTESTING
THE APPLICATION TO THE PUBLIC UTILITIES OMISSION OF THE STATE

THE CITIES OF SAN FRANCISCO AND SAN JOSE.
WHEREAS, the Southern Pacific Company now operates trains
number 155 and number 156 between the pities of San Francisco and
San Jose with service to intermediate points, and;
WHEREAS, notifioation has been received by the City Council
of the City of Palo Alto that the Southern Paeifie Company has filed
Application Number 39719 with the Public Utilities Commission of
the State of California requesting authority to discontinue paid
service, and;
SAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto !aids that
discontinuance or disruption of said service would be inimical to
the best interests of the people of Palo Alto;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City
of Palo Alto does hereby protest the Application Number 39719 now
before the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California
and does respectfully urge that said application be denied.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and passed at a regular meeting of the Council of the
City of Palo Alto on Monday, the 26th day of May, 1958, by the
following votes
Bishop, Byxbee, Corcoran, Creaap, Davis, Evans, Giffin,
AYES: Nevis, Porter, Rodgers, Stephens, Woodward.
NOBS: Mitchell, Ruppenthal.
ABSENT: None.
NOT VOTIN0: Marshall.
