Supervisors "requesting allocation of monies for an extension of the South Bay Aqueduct;, urging the Governor, the Legislature and: the Director of the Department, of Water Resources to allocate sufficie it:funde ` in the State budget for the construction of Stage I:of the South Bay Aqueduct project and for the acquisition of rights of way for that portion of the project from the texxninatien of Stage T to the Airpoint Reservoir in Santa Clara County. The City Manager commented on -the presentations: made to Committee No. 1 at a recent meeting by, representatives of the County and the Santa Clara Valley Water Conservation District regarding the South Bay Aqueduct.and the San Luis -Pacheco Pass projects, and advised that he wished" to bring the matter to the Council's attention so that if the Council is interested in adopting a similar resolution, such action could be taken. Resolution No. 3083 requesting allocation of monies for an extension of the South Bay Aqueduct was introduced, and. on motion of 'Woodward and Rodgers,: was adopted by unanimous vote on roll call,:" and.; it was directed-, that copies of -the resolution be sent to the: Governor, the Director of the Department of Water Resources, the State Senator and Aisernblymare from•thiiardistrict, and to the chairmen of the Senate Finance Corrmnaittee and the Assernbly Ways and Means" Committee, alio to the Board of: Supervisors. Upon recomniendatien of the City Manager,and on motion of Byxbee and Bishop, theCouncil requested the Santa Clara Valley Water Conservation District to include the; needs and .requirements of the City of Palo Alto in their . long range steadies for water supply in Santa' Clara County, Water Geal"ogist' :' 4A report was submitted, by the City Manager concerning proposals for a water resources :study: in:the foothills` area,.. to be conducted'in two stages, the first stage study to define specific areas of high potential and: thos a of doubtful value,anl outline a drilling and' proving program to be conducted during the second stage. The staff recoxzunended that Dr. John C. Manning, Consulting : Geologisa of Bakersfield, be retaiined'to make the study.
