RESOLUTION NO. 4405
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
URGING THAT NOT LESS THAN FIFTY PERCENT OF ALL OFFICERS,
COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL
LEAGUE OF CITIES BE CITY COUNCILMEN OR THEIR EQUIVALENT
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities holds an annual
conference at which time all municipal elected officials can
convene and pool their reasoning power towards solving this
country's municipal problems; and
WHEREAS, the United States Conference of Mayors also has
an annual conference at which time the combined efforts of the
Mayors of this country are tapped for solutions to this nation's
municipal problems; and
WHEREAS, it has become apparent that the mayors speak
through both organisations overwhelmingly.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City o:2 Palo Alto does
RESOLVE that:
No less than fifty percent of all officers, committee
chairman and committee members of the National League of Cities
be councilmen (aldermen, selectmen, commissioners) thus broadening
the participation, voice and viewpoint with the national
organization.
