RESOLUTION NO. 4389
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARING THAT THE SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF PERSONS
NECESSITATE THE CLOSURE OF STREETS IN THE VICINITY
OF CALIFORNIA AVENUE FOR A PARADE'ON NOVEMBER 7, 1970,
BETWEEN 10:00 A.M. AND 1:00 P.M. SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS
WHEREAS, Band Day is currently scheduled in conjunction with
the Stanford University football game for November 7. 1970; and
WHEREAS, the California Avenue Area Development Association
Inc., wishes to sponsor a parade upon California -Avenue and Park
Boulevard in connection with -said Band Day; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 21101 of the California Vehicle
Code the City Council has authority to temporarily close a portion
of any street.for celebrations, parades, local special events and
other purposes when such closing is necessary for the safety and
protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street
during the -temporary closing; and
'WHEREAS, said parade will be of benefit to the People of
the City of Palo Alto and to the participants and is_an..appropriate
adjunct to the observance of Band Dap by Stanford University.
- NOW, THEREFORE., the `Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE that California Avenue from the intersection with Park,
Boulevard to ;an: alley ccas«.only known ae Mayfield Lane- near the
intersection:of El Camino Real. and-Park Boulevard between Peers
Park and California Avenue are hereby ordered temporarily closed
on November 7, 1970 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.,
_for the safety -And protection of persons using said streets

during said hours.
