RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ESTABLISHING A YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto recognizes the
desirability of involving the youth of Palo Alto in local govern-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that there are some areas in
local decision -making where it would be valuable to have opinions
of the youth population of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created a Youth Advisory Council
composed of three high school students from each public senior
high school attendance area and one junior high school student
from each public junior high school attendance area, who are
residents of the City of Palo Alto.
SECTION 2. Members shall be elected by the respective students
eligible to be a member of the Youth Advisory Council, pursuant to
election procedures approved by the City Council by motion.
SECTION 3. The Youth Advisory Council shall be advisory only
to the City Council. It shall keep the City Council informed of
youth needs and interests and may make recommendations as determined
by a majority of the Youth Advisory Council.
SECTION 4. The organization and procedures of the Youth
advisory Council shall be subject to approval by the City Council
by motion.
