RESOLUTION NO. 4321
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO .ALTO
SUPPORTING THE USE OF STANFORD STADIUM AS PERMANENT.
SITE FOR THE SHRINE EAST -WEST FOOTBALL CAME
WHEREAS, Stanford University has just hosted the Shrine East-
West football classic; and
WHEREAS, Stanford Stadium proved to be an ideal site for this
nationally famous sports event, with ample parking, perfect playing
conditions for the college senior stars and accommodations for the
colorful and exciting pre -game and half time festivities; and
WHEREAS, the annual event is staged for the highest cause, the
support of Shrine hospitals for crippled and burned children; and
WHEREAS, said Shrine Classic has brought renown to the City
of Palo Alto and Stanford University and has afforded an unusual
opportunity for its citizens to participate in and enjoy the acclaimed
and charitable event; and
WHEREAS, Stanford Stadium seems fully suitable as the permanent
site for the East-West Game.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto does hereby commend Stanford University for arranging to
host this worthwhile and enjoyable sports event and most enthusiastically
encourages both Stanford University and the sponsoring Shrine organi-
zation to make this an annual event at Stanford Stadium.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this
resolution to the President of Stanford University and to the sponsoring
Shrine organization.
