RESOLUTION NO. 4300
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
CALLING A SPECIAL REFERENDUM ELECTION FOR JUNE 2,
1970 AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CF THE
COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA TO CONSOLIDATE SAID SPECIAL
ELECTION WITH THE DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION
WHEREAS, on August 12, 1969 a petition for referendum was
filed with the City Clerk requesting that Ordinance No. 2515,
changing the zoning of certain property bounded by Channing,
Waverley, Addison and Bryant streets from R-2 and R-4 to P -C
(hospital), be repealed in its entirety or be submitted to a
vote of the electors as required by Section 3 of Article VI of
the Charter, and
WHEREAS,"said petition contains valid signatures in excess
of the requirement of 1,662 signatures set forth in Section. 3 of
Article VI of the Charter,
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. A special referendum election is hereby called,
to be held in the City of Palo Alto on Tuesday, June 2, 1970, at
which election the followina measure shall be submitted to the
electorate of said city, to wit:

R-2 and R-4 to P -C for development as a hospital, be

SECTION 2. The Board of Supervisors of the County of
Santa Clara is hereby requested to order the consolidation of
said spacial referendums election with the State of California
direct primary clec;;icn to be held on June 2, 1970, insofar as
the City of Palo Alto is concerned and to provide further that
within the territory affected by said order of consolidation,

to wit: the City of Palo Alto, the election precincts, polling
places and voting booths shall be the same and there shall be
only one set of election officers in each of said precincts and
only one form of ballot shall be used.
SECTION 3. The Board of Supervisors of the County of
Santa Clara are hereby further authorized to canvass the returns
of said election with respect to the City of Palo Alto measure
and to certify such canvass of the votes cast to this Council..
SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause
notice of said election to be published once in the PALO ALTO
TIMES, a newspaper of general circulation within the City of
Palo Alto, and all editions thereof during the day of publica-
tion, said notice to be published in said newspaper not earlier
than the 75th day nor later than the 54th day before said election.
The City Clerk -shall publish all such other notices and do all
such other things as may be required to submit said measure to
said electors at said election.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and dir-
ected to certify to the adoption of this resolution and to submit
a copy thereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Santa Clara and to the Registrar of Voters of the
County of Santa Clara.
