The Council of the City of ?alo Alto met in regular,
session on this date at 7:3.0 .P.M.;, with Mayor Simpson presiding.
Roll call asfollows:

The minutes of the meeting of July 26, 1954, were ap-

This was the time set for hearing on Resolution No, 2547'
of Preliminary Determination and of intention to make changes and
modifications in Project 52-1lI.,, The Mayor stated that the reso-
lution incorporates -all of.the -changes and modifications which
were made during. the.Progress of the project.
The aff davit of.- posting notice of the hearing as re,-
wired- by law was filed by the City Clerk. The Mayor announced
that the onlyorotestswhichcanbe heard at this hearing are
written protests by owners off':property liable to be assessed for_
work 1.n this project-andfiled prior to the hearing. The City-
Clerk reported that; tO legal protests had been .filed. The hearing
was then declared` closed.

El Camino Real Annexation No . 1 and No. 2
A petition -was received-from'property owners ,in- :the area
bounded on the north by'Adobe Creek, on the west. by, El Camino Real,
on the south' by the' M_ ountain View city limits, and on the east ' by
the_ Southern pacific right-of-way, . requcstng that''proceed i.ngs be
started to annex this;: area to the City of Palo Alto. The petition
contained theeslgnatures of. 207 property owners. (This area'to,_'be
designated 'El Camino Real. Annexation No. 2") . Mr.' Neal Beck,
138 Monroe Drive, addressed the Council, stating that the residents:
of ;this area -would like to join the City of Palo Alto; that they _
feel PaloAlto.has many things to offer which would benefit them;
and that;all those who signed the petition feel they would much
rather be -a part of Palo Alto than any other city.
A-petition,was also received from property owners in the
area bounded; on the north .by the present city limits of Palo Alto,
on t2e,westby EI Camino Real-, on the south by Adobe Creek,. and' on
the eas:tby`Alma' Street, requesting that proceedings be started to
anne:c this .area' to the City of Palo Alto. The petition.contained

Amendment to --Truck Route Ordinance
A report was received from Committee No..2 recommending
the"adoption of an;ordinance amending Section 19.33.1 of Codified -
Ordinance No 5 relating to truck routes.
The City: -Attorney explained the provisions of the proposed 1
ordinance which .would add several streets and portions .of streets
as truck routes and clarifies the existing provisions of the truck
ordinance
A letter was received from Ernest H. Norback, President of
the Oregon .Avenue'Di,strict Association, stating that the proposed
amendment's in substance .meet with their approval.
