On motion ofMitchell and Porter, the proposed ordinance providing `for the rezoning as recommended by Committee NO. - ,1 was accepted -for first reading and referred to the Planning Commission for consideration. Interrttible Gas' /A regiment, P.G. & E. A,:report. was: received from Committee No. 1 recommending approval and execution of an agreement with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company: fox. the sale of interruptible gas, with an additional paragraph'to'provide that no customers can be served within; the elty.=:lin1ts. without authorization of the City. The City Manager' ;reviewed the terms of the proposed agreement, and, advised that the text has been rewritten to include -the .amendment recommended by Committee No — 1. 1 without adding;a-new:-paragraph. He' explained that the agreement will authorize: the Pacit.c. Gas & . Electric Company to furnish interruptible gas ;4.rithin the city limits to such applicants as may be- approved: by, the City Manager of Palo Alto, and provides that the Company sha11`pay. annually to Palo Alto two per cent of . the gross revenues derived' from customers served under this agreement. The City" Manager also reviewed the utility demands of -the. Eastman Kodak Company which wishes to purchase : interruptible gas for-' the operation of, its new plant. On -'motion of Bishop and Mitchell, the recommendation of. Conmiit.tee; :No. 1 --:was adopted and the Mayor and City' Clerk were authorized :to';sign' this agreement on behalf of the City. Traffic Ordinances. Upon recommendation of Committee No. 2 the following ordinances were accepted:for first reading: Ordinance establi skiing arterial stops :on- certain streets- intersecting Lincoln Avenue and Hamilton Avenue. Ordinance; adding Section 19.60 to Codified Ordinance; No. 5 regulating parking on city property. Ordinance prohibiting parking on certain portions - of First Street between Portage Avenue and Lambert Avenue. In regard to the third ordinance, the City Manager - reported that"int.eres"ted parties have requested that some restrictions be placed" on the parking of cars on the portion'of First Street referred: to - in order to relieve the traffic problem. there,and' advised,.thigmembers of the Traffic Committee intend to,. investigate the matter further before the ordinance is giver second reading. .It'waspointed out in this connection that the, name of First Street will be changed to Ash Street as of January 1, 195+. .Signals at Middlefield Road and Colorado Avenue A report was receiv€d from Committee No. 2 recommending that.a, transfer of :$5.,000.00,.:be authorized from the Special Projects: Fund, Account 123-.98B,: for' the installation of traffic signals' at.JMiddlefield Road and Colorado Avenue. The City :Manager advised that provisions has: been made . in the current budget for signals. at California` Avenue and •Middlefield Road and at Oregon Avenue .and Middlefield;' Road:, ' and that the equipment has been ordered,: and that the ;_.Traffic Committee feels that signals are necessaryalso at: the Colorado' =Avein a intersection.
