HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4208• • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 4208 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO URGING ADOPTION OF H.R. 1149 PRESENTLY PENDING IN THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, WHICH LEGISLATION WOULD AUTHORIZE A SKYLINE NATIONAL PARKWAY ALONG THE CREST OF THE SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS WHEREAS, the Honorable Charles Gubser, member of the House of Representatives, U.S. Congress, has introduced H.R. 1149 to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to designate the Skyline National Parkway in the State of California; and WHEREAS, similar bills were also introduced in the 90th Congress by Senator Thomas Kuchel and Senator George Murphy; and WHEREAS, the Skyline is an important scenic and recrea- tion resource which extends along the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the end of the range of the Pajaro River Valley at Route 129 near the southern boundary of Santa Clara County; and WHEREAS, this resource in its fullest extent has great potential for the use and enjoyment of all the people of the United States as a National Parkway and deserves the protec- tion that would be afforded by National Parkway status; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto gives its full support to H.R. 1149, the proposed National Parkway, extending the full length of the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains to State Highway 129. 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to Representatives Gubser and Edwards and Senators Murphy and Cranston, and to the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs, U.S. House of Representatives.
