RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARING PALO ALTO TO BE A WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
WHEREAS, the C ouncil and the citizens of the City of
Palo Alto are vitally co ncern ed with and dedicated to the
preserv ation of the beauty and qu ality of its n atural s etting;
and
W HEREAS, many of the City's regul ation s have b een
designed to pres erve and enha nce th e natural e sthetic h erit age
of the a rea; and
WHEREAS, a significant p art of the City's nat ur al
be au ty is due to the abundance of bird speci es and oth er forms
of wildlife, and the presence of these spe cies of wildlif e in
their na tural habitat contributes markedly to the enjoyment of
the citizens of our community,
NOW, THEREFORE, the Counc il of the City of P alo Alto
does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is the public policy of the City
of Palo Alto to encourage the protection, c are and pre servation
of all for ms of non-destru ctiv e wildlife so as to main ta in the
ecological balanc e of our re gion and to pre serve the unique
bea uty that wildlife species contribute to the human e xperie nce.
SECTION 2. That a ll of the territor y wit hin the City
of Palo A lto be and the sa me is here by de:Jared to be a wildlife
sanc tuary.
