RESOLUTION _OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
COMMENDl.l'-'G THE FOOTBALL TE AM OF STANFORD UNIVERSITY
FOR ITS SUCCESSFUL SEASON AND EXPRESSING BEST WISHES
FOR SUCCESS IN ITS ROSE BOWL APPEARANCE ON JAJ~UARY I, 1972
WHEREAS, L'le football team representing Stanford University has succeeded in defending
its title as Champion of the Pacific Eight Conference; and
WHEREAS, the Stanford team will be representing the Conference for the second consecutive
year in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on New Year's Day; and
WHEREAS, the citizens and the Council of the City of Palo Alto are proud of the
accomplishments of the team members and the coaching staff.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION l. That the.citizens and Council of the City of Palo Alto congratulate the Football
Coach, John Ralston, the members of his staff, co-captains Jackie Brown, Don Bunce and Jeff
Siemon, and all members of the varsity team.-
SECTION 2. That the citizens and Council of the City of Palo Alto express their support
and best wishes for success to the team in its Rose Bowl appearance on ~anuary 1, 1972.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution
to the Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University, President Richard Lyman,
Coach John Ralston and Director of Athletics Charles Taylor.
