On' moti on of Cathcart and Dry2;dale,. and by unanimous vote on_ roll call, the recoinmenda.tion of the committee was adopted and the transfers were`authorized. Commercial . Off is:cer A. communication was received from the City Manager in regard to the retirement on July 1, 1952 of George E. King; Commercial Officer, with the recommendation that Alfred J. Mitchell, thepresent Deputy Taxarid J'tilities Collector, be approved as.:the Commercial Officer -for the City of Palo Alto upon the retirement of Mr -.:King _on July 1, 1952. On: motion of:Simpson and Montrouil, the appointment of Rlfre&J.- latchlell aa: T'axT Collector and Commercial Officer was' approved. Zone Change, (Millwood Subdivision,) Reference was made to the hearing held at the last meeting on the application of W. 3,. C,ausey for the rezoming of Lots 1., 2, 3 and 4, Block, 254 Millwood Subdivision, from n-.2 to R-4., and to the reconimondat ion of the Planning Commission that the application be -denied but that the lots be rezoned from R -2` -to R-3. A report was received from -Committee No. 1 advising that it. has given further study to the matter and recommends that these lots berezoned from R-2 to R-3 as recommended by the P arning Commission A r,totion was- made'by Montrouil, seconded by Hill,. that- the recommendation of` the -Planning Commission and Committee. ,No. -..“or. rezoning: the `property to .fit -3 be adopted. There was considerable` discussion:, in:which attention was called to the, .,objection of Sty. Mark's Church to the: rezoning of Mr. Chusey's property.: Mr. Causeywas present and spoke in support of his. reques:t and explained the plans` `Ter development of his property. On motion of Montrouil and Simpson, the recommendation of Committee No. 1 was adopted.. - - Design Control (Terranova) - A report was received from the Planning Commission recommending that the -application of. M. Terranova for design control approval of .six apartment units to be erectedonAlma Street on -Lots- -1 to )5- ;Block 6, Stanford City, be denied, -for the reason that the owner -has "carried too far his repetition of building setbacks, building heights, building sizes, building splcing, and other factors - I O Committee No. 1 recommended approval of Mr. Terranova ppll,cation. There .:was considerable ::d.tscussion.. Councilman Hill expressed his view that :.some• changes` should be made in the appearance of the buildings so. they would not all look alike, and:.: suggested that the car ports 'far two > of thebuildings be'. placed in the front instead :of . having- all the car ports in, the rear. .Mr. Terranova; was present and: -stated that he would be willing to changethe -location of,:some; of ,the car ports if the Council wishes it,: .but he objected to having the car ports in the front of the " building.' A motion was made by Simpson, seconded by Cashel, that the recoMmendation' of Committee No. 1:be adopted and Mr. Terranova'~ plans approved. Street A .better was received.' from Don Reinoehl, owner of property aft tine corner. of Loma VVerde Avenue and Waverley Street, concerning plans for the improvement of Loma Verde Avenue which require.the acquisition by :the City of a 10 -foot strip of land along the: easterly side of ":Loma Verde. Mr. Reinoehl offered to'dedicate this strip .of -land to the City in return for the abandonment of a 7 -foot strip on Waverley Street in accordance =with a map submi.tted, being a portion of Lot 29 of the C.
