HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4470RESOLUTION NO. 4470 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO ~MENDING SCHEDULE G-1 (GAS RATES) OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO.UTILITIES RATES AND CHARGES WHEREAS, recently the California Public Utilities Commission has heard and granted several wholesale gas rate increases to Pacific Gas & Electric Company, as "offsets" and "tracking", and WHEREAS, said offsets include fluctuations in the cost of qas to Pacific Gas & Electric Company from certain producing com- panies, tax law ch?nges, exchange rate changes and sim.ilar items affecting the cost of gas to Pacific Gas & Electric Company, and WHEREAS, in addition to offsets, other increases, commonly known as "tracking" are authorized to be effective in the future, when and if the Federal Power Commission grants requested rate increases to gas producers, and WHEREAS,·Pacifi~ Gas & Electric Company has received authority to raise wholesale gas rates for of £sets and· tracking on extremely short notice, and WHEREAS,· it is desirable for the City of Palo Alto to adjust its gas rates promptly upon.commencement of an increase from Pacific Gas f Electric Company in order to avoid loss of revenue. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto RESOLVES as follows: SECTION l. Until June 30, 1972, the City Manager is hereby authorized to adjust the qas rates of the City of Palo Alto con- tained on Schedule G-1 of the City of Palo Alto Utilities Rates and Charges, to substantially conform but not to exceed, tho~e rates contained on Pacific Gas & Electric Company General Service Rate G-2, applicable to the East Bay, ·Peninsula-San Jose and Sacramento geographical areas. The effective date of said ad- justments to Schedule G-l shall be the same date on which the wholesale rate increases from Pacific Gas & Electric Company become effective for the City. -1 - • • ' SECTION 2~ Said rate adjustments may be made by the City . Manager to conform with offset and trackin9 increases granted, previously granted, or which may be qranted and placed into effect during said period and shall be limited to a maximum of ten.percent (lOt) over the exi•ting rates currently contained in Schedule G-1 of the Palo Alto Utilities Rates and Charges. This resolution shall not affect any increase granted to Pacific Gas & Electric Company in its rate of ret\lX'n or in rates and charges to produce. its existing authorized rate of return, other than as "offset" or "tracking" increases.
