RBSOLOTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN LANDS IN THE PALO ALTO FOOTHILLS
FOR OPEN SPACE, CONSERVATION AND/OR PARK USES
llRDREAS, the City's Consultant ha~ recommended that. certain
lands ·tn ·the Palo Alto Foothills be used for open space, con-
servation and/or park use; and
WHEREAS, said lands are not now so designated in the City's
General Plan1 and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on
April 28, 1971, and by Resolu~ion No~ 117 of the Planning Com-
mission of the City of Palo Alto recommended amendments of the
General Plan by the designation of said lands for open space,
conservation and/or park uses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council on June 7, l9iJ. !.:.Ld a public
hearing on this matter.
NOW, THEREFORE: the C0\1'.&Cil of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
~SECTION 1, That-the map ~n~itied 8 Gent"a~ Plan Amendment
(Foothills Area)" be incorpora~ed into the General Plan~ A
copy of said map is attached here~o as EXHIBIT A and incorporated
herein by retdrence~
SECTION 2. Thae the Geneial Plan of the City of Palo Alto
is amended by deleting all material after Paragraph 1 on Paqe
48 (revised) thereof and all of Pages 49 and 50, and the
substitution therefor of land use policies contained in 6XHIBIT B
-1 -

The Foothills area of the City is defined as that area within the City liait•
whi.cb li.ee south of the Jun.ipero Serra Freeway and generally north of SkyU.ae
Boulevard. Tbe general U8e• of land proposed for thi• area are shown on the
General Plan Land Use Map and are more specifically described as:
1) areas now generally developed for law den8ity residential
use are designated to continue in such use;
2) the area awned by Stanford University and presently zoned
P-C to permit research institutions i• designated for Low
Intensity Baploymant uaes; and
3) the remainder of .land. amounting to over 90 percent 1Jf the
entire Foothills area, is designated for Open Space, and/or
Conservation and Park uses.
