RESOLUTION NO. 4447
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO ALEC C. SMITH UPON HIS
RE'I !REM.ENT
WHEREAS, ALEC c. SMITH will retire on May 9, 1971, after more
than seventeen years of service with the City of Palo Alto as the
Director of Recreation in the Department of conanunity Services1
and
WHEREAS,-ALEC c. SMITH has undertaken his tasks with enthusiaam
and because of his strong sense of duty and responsibility the
fruits of his labors will remain for the enrichment of this com-
munity; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto is proud of his
many accomplishments, his singleness of purpose and rare devotion
to his work; and
WHEREAS, under his leadership the Department of Recreation has
made significant contributions to the growing leisure-time needs of
this community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Coun~il of the City
of Palo Alto gratefully records its appreciation as well as the
appreciation ~f the residents of Palo Alto for the faithful service
rendered to the City and extends to ALEC c. SMITH its best wishes
for a long and happy retirement.
