ORIGINAL
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A MID-PENINSULA REGIONAL
PARK AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
WHEREAS, there is now pending a proposal for formation
of a Mid-Peninsula Reg~"nal Park and Open Space District
pursuant to the pr0Vi!11ons of Article 3, Chapter 3, Division
5 of the California Public Res·ources Code (commencing at
Section 5500), and
WHEREASr this proposal appears to present a practical and
workable procedure to forestall the rapid disappearance of open
space in the Mid-Peninsula particularly the foothills over-
looking the communities to be included in the district, and
WHEREAS, a survey has shown popular support for the
proposal, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed that· this propQsal should 1-:i pl3.ced
before tne voters_ at the earliest possible time.
NOW, THEREFORE, 8E IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto does hereby urge favorable consideration of
this proposal by the public and does further reque~t favorable
action by the Boards of Supervisors and the Local Agency
Formation COBIDiasions of the Counties of San Mateo and Santa
Clara, so as to place this proposal before the voters of the
propose~-district at the_earliest possible time, and -------
BE IT FUR~HER RESOLVED that the ~ity Clerk be and is
heren, directed to forward one certi!ied copy of this " -. ~

resolution to each of the Clerks of the Board of Supervisors
and of the Local Agency Formation Com.~issions of the Counties
of San Mateo and Santa Clara.
