RESOLU'l'ION NO. 4435
RESOLUTION OF THE COVNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
INDICATING ITS INTENTION TO OPERATE ANY COMMUNITY .
ANTENNA TELEVISION SYSTEM ESTABLISHED l:N TSE CITY
AS A PUBLIC UTILITY AND TO COOPERATE WITH NEIGHBOR-
ING COMMUNITIES IN ESTABLISHING SUCH COMMUNITY
ANTENNA TELEVISION SYSTEM
WHEREAS, on March 24, 1969, the Council authorized a full-
scale feasibility atudy on eatabliahinq a Community Antenn•
Television System in Palo Alto1 and
WHEREAS, on July 20, 1970, two reports resulting from said
study relating to marketing considerations and engineering
feasibility of a COllDW1ity Antenna Television system· in Palo Alto
were referreC'i to the Finance Committee for review and recommenda-
tior.1 and
WHEREAS, on Auqust 25, 1970, the Finance Ccmmittee recownd-
ed to the Council that no decision be made on the establishment
of such a system in Palo Alto until certain pertinent issues were
resolved1 and
NBBUAS, a preli•in~ issue has Jeer& raised as to whether
such a ayatmn should be operated as a public utility or should be
operated by a private party under a franabise1 and
WBBRBAS, a further preliminary issue has been raised·u to
whether Palo Alto should establiah auch a ayatem by itself or
in eooperation with neigbborin9 CC91B11ftities; and
WBBRBAS, the council of the City of Palo Alto ha• con•i4-red

NOW, TBBUPORB, JIB IT RBSOLVED by the council of the City
of Palo Alto that it intend• to operate any C~• • rmity Antenna

and that it does not intend to offer a franchi•• to any prl••te
party for said operationr and
BE IT FUlt'l'BBR RESOLVED that the City of Palo Alto i• willin9
to cooperate as fully aa possible with the Cit7 of Mountain View,
the City of Menlo Park, unincorporated areas adjoining the City of
Palo Alto, Stanford University, and any other local co•H1anity
which is interested in establishing a community Antenna Television
System.
