RESOLUTION NO. 4430
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REQUESTING THE HOLDING OF A PUBLIC HEARING BY THE
FEDERAL AVIATION AGENCY PRIOR TO ANY CHANGE IN
~GULATION OF ROUTES FOR COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT FLIGHTS
IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA
WHEREAS, there is currently pending before the Federal
Aviation Agency a proposal \hereinafter referred to as "said
proposal") to change the San Francisco Bay Area flight patterns
so as to route additional commercial aircraft flights over the
City of Palo Alto, and
WHEREAS, said proposal vitally affects the public health,
safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Palo Alto, and
WHEf<EAS, no such proposal affecting.substantial rights of
the citizens should be considered without affording the citizens
notice thereof and an opportuni.ty to be heard,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Pa.lo Alto that said Council does _hereby request that the
Federal Aviati~n Agency schedule a public hearing on said pro-

posal, said hearing to be held ~t a time and place con,1enient
to the citizens of the City of Palo Alto, at which hearing the
citizens may fully express their views, and that due and adequate
notice of such hearing .be qiveri to the citizens: and ... ,

BE IT FUR'n:IER RESOLVED that said Council requests that the
Federal Aviation Ageney suspend ~ll action on said proposal until
completion of the public hearing ~ereby requested: and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is
hereby directed to forwar~ one copy of this Resolution, duly
certified to the Federal Aviation Agency, to the Chairman of each
of the Boards of Supervisors of the Counties of Santa Clara,
San Mateo and San Francisco, and to the Mdyor of each of the

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution is passed as
an urgency item.
