RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO, 2533 TO CHAUGE THE DEVELOPMENT
Pt.AN FOR PROPERTY KNOWN AS 3000 EL CAMINO REAL TO
APPROVE SIGNS FOR SAID DEVELOPMENT SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as fol-
SECTION l~ Th~ Development Plan for si9ns attached hereto as
Exhibit "A• is added to the P-C Development Plan approved by
Ordinance No. 2533 applied to property-known as 3000 El Camino
Real._
SECTION 2. Said Exhibit "A" is hereby adopted and approved
subject to the following conditions:
l. Signs as proposed in Items (e), (f) and (g)
on Page 1 of Exhibit "S" shall be in compliance
with the Palo Alto Sign Ordinance as applied
to the C-3 Districto
2o Those signs shown in Exhibit •6" and designated
(A) on the drawings shall be limited to 100
square feeto
3o The project identification signs on El Camino
Real and Page Mill Road shall be installed on
or before July 1, 1973.
SECTION 3o All other provisions of Ordinance No. 2533 shall
remain in full force and effect.

.. • • B. Type "B .. signs will be at elevation = S feet-0 inches as shown
on SI·Z and Sl-3 and may be handled in the following manner:
l.) Signs on glass must be executed on gold leaf print on the
tenant side of glass, and shall be executed wholly within
boundries of sign as shown on SI-Z. Thia is the only ac-
ceptable tenant signing for glass areas. The size, design,
and placement must be submitted to the Landlord for ap•
proval prior to installation.
z.) Signs on opaque walls (if they occur) must be executed in
metal plaque form and may protrude from the wall a maximum
of three (3) inches.
C. Within glass areas first floor tenants only may employ temporary
display signs typical of their type of business, but these signs
may in no way touch or be within Z4 inchee of the glass eurface.

LEASE EXTRACT
TENANT'S SIGN WORK
The following information and Landlord's Sign Programs shall govern
all sign work furnished and installed by the Tenant:
1. General
2.
A. Signs must be approved by Landlord, Landlord's Architect
in all respects prior to fabrication and erection. Although
previous and current signing practices of Tenant will be
considered, they will not govern signing to b.e installed in
the PALO ALTO SQUARE.
B. Design drawinge showing location, colors. materials: attach-
ment devices and details of construction shall be approved
by Landlord and Landlord's Architect prior to fabrication
and erection of sign.
C. Landlord and Landlord's Architect ma1 modify cl"iteria in
certain instances where they determine that the changes will
be beneficial to the overall signing programs of the Square.
Design
A. Moving signs, !lashing lightR, moving lights, fluttering lights
noise making signs, exposed raceways, and exposed incadee-
cent lights are prohibited. Exposed neon tubing in channel
letters is prohibited.
B. Signe shall utilize dther:
I. Backlighted, free-standing letters.
II. Individual metal or plastic letters with plastic faces,
illuminated from within by tubing.
C. Wording shall be limited to brief identification of bus~ness
name, except for small signs lettered permanently and neatly
on show window glaes of business front. Trademarks, slogans,
and airriilar devices will not be permitted on sign fascia.
. D. Size to be appropriate to the location and dimensions of the
front and/or building, the panel and/or background size, and
the style of type to be utilized. Maximum sizes for various
lccatione will be established by the Landlord and Landlord'•
