RESOLUTION NO. 4409
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REG.~RDING POLICY CONCERNING USE OF LYTTON SCHOOL SI'l'E
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has acquired certain property
located on the southwest cornsr of the intersection of Lytton
Avenue and Middlefield Road in the City of Palo Alto for the
purpose of 'future development of low/moderate income housing,
and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto wishes to
declare at this time its policy for the future use t~ereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Palo Alto as follows:
RESOLVED, that the intent of the Palo Alto City Council
in acquiring the Lytton School property was and is to hold
this property in a land bank pending its use in providing low
to moderate income housing in as great a degree as economically
feasible. It is the intent tha~ this property be made available
to parties capable of providing such housing and that the City
actively promote such use. It is not the present intent to
donate this property in whole or in part to such a project,
although some form of assistance to such parties may be granted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, it is the sense of the Palo Alto
City Council that if, in two years, adequate progress has not
been made to achieve these goals, the Council should give
serious consideration to alternate uses or returning the
land to the private sector at market price. During the two
year period staff is to provide status reports at least
