HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4679• • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 4679 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCJL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEWLY ELECTED DIRECTORS UPON THE FORMATION OF THE MIDPENJNSULA REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT WHEREAS, the voters of the County of Santa Clara at the November 7, 1972 election approved by a substantial margin the establishment of the Mldpeninsula Regional Park District; and WHEREAS, the voters elected Nanette Hanko, Katherine M. Duffy, Daniel Wendin, Daniel Condron, and William G. Peters as directors of the new district; and WHEREAS, the directors have demonstrated, in their extensive and conscientious efforts toward the establishmen; of the district, their concern for and sensitivity to the region ~ need for park and open space lands; and WHEREAS, there exists In the County of Santa Clara a great need for parks, recreation land and facilities, ant.: open space land to serve the expanding needs of the population; and WHEREAS, the formation of the Midpeninsula Regional Park District represents a significant step fom·ard in meeting those needs through the conservation of our open space heritage; NOW. THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE to extend congratulations to Nonette Hanko, Katherine M Duffy, Danie_/ Wendin, Daniel Condron, and William G. Peters upon their election as directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Park District, and to extend best wishes for their success in preserving the open space heritage of the region.
