HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4677,, • • • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 4677 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATES OF PER DIEM WAGES IN CONTRACTS FOR PUBLIC WORKS FOR THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF SUCH RATES AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 4523 (ADOPTED 12-6-71) WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 1773 of the Labor Code a public body awarding a contract or undertaking public works must det~rmi_n~ ,the genefal-~t-~v~i.l:l"l~: -~~+~_-~~-~~_r: ~;_::-~~r:-~0'~-~:-:i'l-_ :_ 0 _· __ -_- ··:; _:. -. -: -. accordance with standards set forth in said Code for each craft, classification or type of workman needed to execute the contract: and WHEREAS, the City Council has ascertained and considered applicable wage rates established by collective bargaining agree- ments within the locality and in the nearest labor market area, particularly the Santa Clara-San Benito Counties Building and construction Trades Council wage scales; NOW, 'I .. .:REFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Council hereby determines the general prevail- ing rate of per diem wages as of November 20, 1972, in the Palo Alto locality for all public works under contract to be that set forth in EXHIBIT A attached beret~ ~nd made a part hereof by reference. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clc..ra and said county is au~~orized to publish said wage rates as required by law. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the Director of Industrial Relations of the State of California, San !'ranc_isco, California. -l - , • • ·• -~------~--- • • SECTION 4. Any jurisdiction may choose to publish the wage scales annually rather than to publish them for each construction project. Last year 12 Cities and 15 Districts _participated in this program with a considerable savings to everyone. We are again offering the following proposal: 1. County would publish the entire wage scale before December 31, 1972, including appropriate language, to indicate the agencies parti ci pa ting. 2. County would secure !n Affidavit of Publication for each jurisdiction. 3. County would make additional copies of the wage scales available to participating agencies at !!.Q. extra cost. 4. Each C-ity or District who participates would contribute $100 to- ward defraying costs and cooperate in the adoption of the appro- priate documents within the strict time l'mitations necessary to make this project successful. 5. City or District would by !U PM!e Order or ,Bes o l,uti,.Q.D approve participation in the program, and advise us by December 15, 1972. A certified copy of that authorization shou1d be for- warded to this office together with your estimate as to the number of additional copies to be required. If your jurisdiction is contemplating any construction in the ensuing· year, this proposal may be of interest to you.
