RESOLUTiON OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO AL TO
APPROVING THE LOCATION OF A SITE AND FACILITY FOR TIIE
RESIDENTIAL TREA TME.Vf CENTER
WHEREAS. the Council of the City of Palo Alto, in recoanition of the powing problem
of drug abuse in the community and in response to the need for a comprehensive antktru& abuse
program at the local level, has accepted major responsibility for the coordination and development
of such a program in the City of Palo Alto and has assigned this program hi&h priority in tenns -
of the commitment of local resources; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto has executed an agreement with the Palo
Alto Community Drug Abuse Board, hereinafter referred to as "PACDAB," for establishment
and operation of a comprehensive anti-drug abuse proaram in the City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, one element of this anti-drug abuse program is to be a residential treatment
center providing a governed drul"free living environment where rehabilitation from dnl& use can
occur; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo AJto has retained the authority under its
agreement with PACDAB to approve sites and facilities to be used for the Residential Treatment ·
Center; and
· · WHEREAS, PACDAB has proposed that a building al 85J University Avenue in Palo Alto
be used for the Residential Treatment Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto grants
··its con~t and approval of the proposed site and facility for the Residential Treatment Center.
