RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
WELCOMING TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO THE HONORABLE
JORGE MARTINEZ GRACIDA, MAYOR OF OAXACA, MEXICO;
CARLOS HAMILTON AND JORGE GONZALES, PAST PRESIDENTS
OF THE COMMITTEE OF SISTER CITIES OF OAXACA AND
SENOR BALLESTERO, PRESIDENT OF THE OAXACA ROTARY CLUB
WHEREAS, the Municipality of Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico, and
the City of Palo Alto, California, United States of America, have
united in bonds of mutu~l friendshjpand exchange as Sister Cities
through the Town Affiliation Association and have achieved inter-
national agreement and understanding; and
WHEREAS, over a period of over eight years the Municipal
Council and the people of Oaxaca have afforded themselves of every
opportunity to express their warmth, respect, and hospitality to
Palo Alto and visitors to Oaxaca from Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, on numerous occasions Oaxaca has strengthened the
bonds of cultural exchange; and
WHEREAS, on many occasions the Municipality of Oaxaca and its
citizens have expressed in innumerable ways deep hospitality and
affection for Palo Alto citizens extending to them all courtesies
and warmth; and

WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto an~l its City Council cherishes
and recognizes the increased depth of understanding and appreciation
of our cultures through our Sister City affiliations and activities;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is honored to have as guests
in the City of Palo Alto the Honorable Mayor of Oaxaca, Jorge Martinez
Gracida, Senor Carlos Hamilton and senor Jorge Gonzales, Past Presidents
of the Sister City Conunittee of Oaxaca and Senor Bellestero, President
of the Oaxaca Rotary Club;

NOW, THEREFOllE, the Council of the City Of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City of Palo Alto through its City Council
expresses its heartfelt and great appreciation to the Municipallty
of Oaxaca, Mexico and its most honorable Municipal Council for their
many kindnesses to our citizens and warmly welcomes to our City
the Honorable Jorge Martinez Gracida, Mayor of Oaxaca de Juarez;
Senor Carlos Hamilton and Senor Jorge Gonzales, P~st Presidents of
of the Sister City Committee of Oaxaca; and Senor Ballestero,
President of the Oaxaca Rotary Club and urges the citizens of this
community to make their stay in our City a memorable one.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall cause copies of this resolution
to be presented to each of our honored guests.
