RESOLUTION NO. 4587 -
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
SUPPORTING SB 495 (DUMBARTON BRIDGE)
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission is
responsible for coordinating transportation facilities in the Bay
Area; and
WHEREAS, under existing legislation the MTC m~st approve the
construction of some new bridges or expansion of existing bridgas;
and
WHEREAS, the replacement of an existing bridge by a new bridge
of greater capacity has a significant impact on transportation
patterns.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Palo Alto that the California Legislature should enact SB 495 which
requires that the MTC give its approval before a bridge ca~_be
constructed_ to replace an existing one.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed
to forward copies of this resolution to members of the Senate
Transportation Committee.
