RESOLt1l'ION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPROVING CONTRACT WITH THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL
REGARDING REMOVAL OF ABANDONED VEHICLES ON PUBLIC
AND PRIVATE PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the State of California has created an Abandoned
Vehicle Trust Fund to expedite removal of abandoned vehicles; and
WHEREAS, a local ordinance concerning abandoned vehicles,
declaring them to be a public nuisance pursuant to California
Vehicle Code Section 22660 and providing a procedure for the
abatement of same, has been adopted; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto is entitled to contract with
the California Highway Patrol for removal of such abandoned
vehicles and for reimbursement to the City of Palo Alto for the
costs of such i-emoval;
NOW, 'l'BEREPORE, BE IT litESOLVED that the council of the City
of Palo Alto hereby authori~es the Mayor to enter into a contract
with the California Highway Patrol, in compliance with California
Vehicle Code Sections 9250.7, ~2660, 22702 and 22710, such contract
to be in ta'le form and substance as supplied by the california
Highway Patrol and approved by the City Attorney.
