RESOLUTION NO. 4802 -----
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO PETER G. STONE FOR DIS-
TINGUISHED SERVICE AS CITY ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, PETER G. STONE has served Palo Alto since 1968 as
Assistant City Attorney and Senior Assistant City Attorney, and
as City Attorney since July 1970; and
WHEREAS, PETER G. STONE has manifested the highest qualities
of the leqal profession by vigorous representation of the City of
Palo Alto, empathy for the views of others, and an unswerving search
for excellence; and
WHEREAS, PETER G. STONE has presented a bright, alert counte-
nance at City Council meetings, even when the hour is long past
midnight, and he has never been known to sleep at any such meeting1
and
WHEREAS, PETER G. S'l'ONE, by his mere presence, rendered
obsolete, invalid, and unenforceable all previous standards
of dress and hair length for City employees, and has established
new norms therefor;.and
WHEREAS, PETER G. STONE has set a new st~dard for automobile
noise and exhaust emissions pollution with his own vehicle; and
WHE~, PETER G. S'l'ONE in a multitud~ of other ways has
established new standards of excellence for the municipal lawyer;
and
WHEREAS, The Council wishes to express deep-felt affection
for PETER G. S'r()HE of the Council, City staff, and the people of
the City of Palo Alto1 and

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto expresses
its apprecidtion to PETER G. STONE for the outstanding service to

the Council, staff and people of the City of Palo Alto, and extends
to him best wishes for outstanding success in each of his future
endeavors.
