RESOLUTION NO. 4796
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXTENDING BEST WISHES FOR SUCCESS TO THE PALO ALTO
BOYS TEAM IN THE 1973 BOYS NATIONAL CITY TEAM
TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP AND URGING MONETARY
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THEIR EXPENSES
WHEREAS, the 1973 Boys National City Team Tournament Championship
will be held from.August 13 to August 18, 1973, in Birmingham, Alabama1
and
WHEREAS, said tournament produces excellent spirit and unity
:.mong young tennis players, and many of today's top-ranked tennis
players have participated in said tournament; and
WHEREAS, the locally-formed Committee for Palo Alto Boys Team
is arranging to send a boys tennis team from Palo Alto to said tourn-
ament and said team will be the first California boys team so en-
tered; and
WHEREAS, although such formidable cities as Chicago, st. Louis,
and Atlanta are entering teams, it is anticipated that the Palo
Alto Boys Team, which has several players with high national rankings,
has an excellent chance to win the tournamentr and
WHEREAS, approximately $2 1 000 is needed to send a full contin-
gent of six or seven players to said tour~ament1
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION l. The City Council, on behalf of all of the people
of the City of Palo Alto, hereby extends its best wishes for
success to the Palo Alto Boys Team in the 1973 Boys National
City Team Tournament Championship.
SECTION 2. The City council hereby urqes all persons and
organizations in the Palo Alto area to contribute generously

to "Palo Alto -NCTT," whose address is National City Tennis
Tournament, Palo Alto Tennis Club, Poat Office Box 11434,
Palo Alto, California 94306.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk hereby is authorized and
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to MR. REITH
CLARK, Chairman of the Committee for Palo Alto Boys Team.
