RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING THE FRIENDS OF THE PALO ALTO CHILDREN'S
THEATRE PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.28.250 OF THE PALO ALTO
MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre is
a nongovernmental organization whose purpose is "to assist the
Palo Alto Children's Theat1e and to enable the children and
youth of Palo Alto to participate in those theatre activities
appropriate to their interests and abilities"; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Palo Alto Children'• Theatre
endorses the unique concept of an autonomous, city-supported
Children's Theatre as well as leadership by the older children1
and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre
strives to enrich and publicize the resources of the Palo Alto
Children's Theatre; and
WHEREAS, the staff of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre relies
in great measure on the Friends of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre
for assistal'.'.ce, advice, and support, of both a tangible and in-
tangible nature; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre con-
templates activities in the future, such as membership drives,
book sales, and the like, to augment the treasury of the organiza-
tion; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Palo Alto Children•& Theatre has
·.;1.ssured tha City of Palo Alto that the monies col1eeted vill not
benefit the individual members of the· Prlenas o~ tha Pa~o Alto
Children's Theatre but will continue to be utilia~ to supplement
services, equipment, and wuppliea to the City of 'Palo Alto;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:

SECTION l. The Council of the City of Palo Alto herepy doea
recognize and highly commend the Friends of the Palo Alto Children'•
Theatre for its invaluable services to clle City of Palo Alto and
to the Palo Alto Children's Theatre in particular.
SECTlON 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 2.28.250
of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
hereby approves activities by the Friends of the Palo Alto Children's
Theatre which will raise monies to be used by the Friends of
the Palo Alto Children's Theatre in providing said services, equip-
ment, and supplies to the City of Palo Alto, said items· to be
accepted by the City of Palo Alto in accordance with applicable
administrative procedures.
SECTION 3. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby recognizes
that the Friends of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre may desire to
airectly solicit and collect money in the name of, or for t.he use
of, units of the City of Palo Alto and hereby.encourages such
activities, provided that the various conditions as s•it forth in
Section 2.28.250 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code are met for each
such soli~itation activity.
