RESOLUTION NO. 4772
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPROVING AND ADOPTING A FO~"IULA FOR ALLOCATING THE
LOCAL SHARE OF FUNDS UNDER THE PROPOSED STATE BEACH,
PARK, RECREATIONAL, AND HISTORICAL FACILITIES BOND
ACT OF 1974
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 912 of the
California Statutes of 1972, there will be presented to the voters
of the State of California in June of 1974 the proposal for the
State Beach, Park, Recreational, and Historical Facilities Bond
Act of 1974; and
WHEREAS, if said Act is approved, $90 million of the total of
$250 million in bonds will be available for grants to coW'lties,
cities, or cities and counties for the acquisition, development,
or acquisition and development of real property for park, recreation
area, beach, and historical purposes; and
WHEREAS, said proposed Act would further require each county
to consult with all cities and park and recreation districts within
the county and to develop and submit to the state a priority plan
for expenditure of the coW'lty's allocation by June 30, 1975, with
approval by at least 50 percent of the cities and districts repre-
senting at least 50 percent of the population of the cities and
districts within the county and by the coW'lty board of supervisors;

WHEREAS, the Director of the State of California Park and
Recreation Department has requested that such a priority list be
submitted to his office by January 1, 1974~ and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation of the CoW'lty
of Santa Clara has conferred with the principal park and recreation

officials of the cities within the county to prepare a priority
list for the allocation of the local apportionment from the pro-
posed Act; and

WHEREAS, a formula for such allocation has been prepared as
shown on the attached document entitled "FORMULA FOR ALLOCATING
LOCAL SHARE --1974 STATE PARK BOND FUND," which is marked
Exhibit "A", attached hereto, and by reference made a part hereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE aa follows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby
a~2roves and adopts said formula as shown in said Exhibit "A."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk hereby is authorized and directed
to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to ~e Board of
Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara.
