RESOLUTION NO. 4764
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ENCOURAGING THE ELIMINATION OF BARRIERS TO PHYSICALLY
HANDICAPPED PERSONS
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto recognizes that physically
handicapped persons are confronted in society by a variety of
physical and social barriers; and
WeEREAS, physically handicapped persons should enjoy the
same rights and privileges as any other members of the community,
including opportunities of access to public buildings; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto intends to respond to the
needs of physically handicapped persons in order to facilitate
equal opportunity for all citizens; and
WHEREAS, Federal and State law require that appropriate
facilitias for physically handicapped persons be provided in
public buildings and other facilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION l. The City of Palo Alto declares its intention
to respond to the needs of physically handicapped persons in
order to foster equal opportunity in the provision of accessi-
bility to, and useability of, public facilities and in other
critically important concerns.
SECTION ~. The City of Palo Alto pledges its support to
the cause of enforcing Federal -and State requirements as the'y

pertain to facilities for physically handicapped persons
and encourages all members of the community to join in this
effort.
