RESOLUTION NO. 4762
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OP THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
COMMENDING THE PALO ALTO SOCIETY FOR THE BLIND
FOR OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE
WHEREAS, The Palo Alto Society for the Blind has over the past thirty-
seven years, provided outstanding and conscientious service in meeting the
needs of the blind in the Palo Alto community; and
WHEREAS, the founders, trustees, and hundreds of community volunteers
of the Society for the Blind, have provided leadership and faithfully con-
tributed of their ti~e and talents in helping visually handicapped persons
regain the desire and ability to function independently in the sighted
world; and
WHEREAS, the Society's Peninsula Center for Blind and Visually Impaired,
during its first year of service, has provided a broad range ·of counseling,
training, social and recreational activities to more than four hundred blind
and partially sighted children and adults; and
WHEREAS, June 7, 1973 marks the thirty-seventh anniversary of the found-
ing of the Palo Alto Society for the Blind and the first anniversary of its
Peninsula Center for Blind and Visually Impaired;
NuW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows;
SE(;TION 1. The Council hereby extends congratulations to the Palo Alto
Society for the Blind upon the thirty-seventh annivers·ary of its founding,
and upon the first anniversal°y of its Peninsula Center for Blind and Visually
Impaired. and expresses appreciation and coamendation for the Society's
outstanding record of service to the community.
SECTION 2. The Clerk of the City of Palo Alto is hereby directed to
submit copies of .this resolution to the Trustees of the Palo Alto Society for
the Blind prior to their thirty-seventh anniversary on June 7, 1973.
