MAKING APPLICATION TO THE SANT A CLAP.A COUNTY LOCAL
AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION RELATING TO A PROPOSED
DETACHMENT OF TERRITORY FROM PURISSIMA HILLS COUNTY
WATER DISTRICT
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows:
The Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is requested to
approve the proposed detachment of territory, described in Exhibit "A", from the Purissima Hills
County Water District, a special district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in support of this applicatior. it is declared:
1. This proposal is made pursuant to the District Reoraan!zation Act of 1965:
2. The territory proposed to be detached is inhabited;
3. The reason for this pI'("posal is that the territory descnbed in ExJu"bit "A 11 has been
annexed to the City of Palo Alto in an annexation proceeding known as Foothills Annexation
No. 2, and the City has assumed responsibility for water service in this territoey;
4. The following counties, cities or districts are affected by this proposal: Puriaaima Hills
Water District, County of Santa Clara, City of Palo Alto; ._ ..
5. The following cities are within three r:illes of the exterior boundaries of~ory
described in Exhibit "A": Town of Los Altos Hills. City of Mountain View, Town of Portola
Valley and City of Los Altos.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that thi! Coum:il requesu that procoedinp be taken fgr the
detachment of territory proposed herein.
BE IT FURTHER ~ESOL VED that this Council requests that if an election ii required,
that it be held orJ;· in til: area to be detached, as shown in Exhibit "A".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is desired thilt tl\e proposed detactunent provide for
and be made subject to the following terms and conditiona: none.

BE If FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk b directed to file a certified copy of
this resolution with the Executive Officer 1f the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation
Commission.

Area To Be Detached _From Purissima Bills County Water District
All that certain real property situate in the City of Palo Alto, County
of Santa Clara, State of California, and more ~articularly described as
follows:
Beginning at the Northwesterly corner of the Subdivision of the Mesa_··
Tract, according to the.Map thereof recorded November 8, 1899, in Book
"I" of Ma~s, at page 128, Records of Santa Clara, California; thenie
Sc.utherly along the Westerly line of said Mesa Tract to the north-
westerly corner ~f Lot 13 of said Mesa Tract, said corner being also
the northwe~terly corner of that certain tract of land d~-cribed as
Parcel No. 5 in that certain grant deed conveyed by Dr. Esther B.
Clark, to the City of Palo Alto, a ainicipal corporation, dated May 27,
1965 and recorded July 2, 1965, in Book 7017 of Official Records, at
page 657, Records of said County, said corner belng a point on the
corporate limits line o! the Town of Los Altos Hills; thence along the
common corporate limits line southeasterly, southerly and in a
generally northwesterly direction to a point on southerly line of· that
certain 76.00 acre ~arcel as described in Stanford Annexation No. 14,
approved by the City Council of the City of Palo Alto on August 5, 1968,
l>y Ordinance No. 2451; said l~.zae being also thcs former southeasterly line
of Arastradero Road (40 feet wide); thence northeasterly along said l•st
aamed line to the poiat of beginning • ..
Excepting therefrom that certain 1.74 acre parcel conveyed to Velma s.
Goodlin, a married lJom&n, by deed dated October 1, 1964 and recorded
October 9, 1964 in Book 6695 of Ol.ficial Records, at page 74, Records
of Santa Clara County.
