HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4697• • ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 4697 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF TifE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THE LONG AND FAITHFUL SERVICE RENDERED TO THIS COMMUNITY BY JAMES G. MAR!HALL WHEREAS, in recognition of the recent death of JAMES G. MARSHALL, at the advanced age of eighty-eigl'at, it is fitting that this Council record his long, faithful, and devoted service to tllls community; and WHEREAS, JAMES G. MARSHALL was for twelve years a member of the City Council, during four years of which he served as Vice Mayor, and one year as Mayor of the City of Palo Alto. He was chairman, as well as a member, of council committees, devoting time and energy to many important governmental problems, particularly to the Hospital Committee during the years 1956-1961 ; and WHEREAS, JAMES G. MARSHALL, an attorney by profession, brought to every decision a sense of fairness and legal wisdom acquired through many years of experience. The City of Palo Alto, where he lived since I 931, and which he loved and served, claimed his interest and support and his work for the community was not lessened by his retirement; and WH.EREAS, the fruit of his labors remains for the enrichment of this community; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto RESOLVES as follows: That the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records its appreciation as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community for the long and faithful service of JAMES G. MARSHALL and directs the Ci:Y Cleric to transmit a copy of this resolution to Mr. Marshall's daughter. Mrs. YiJxinja Ford, and her family. ---_ _ .
