RESOLUTION NO. 3696
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REGARDING THE RUMFORD FAIR HOUSING ACT
•
WHEREAS, th e r ecently enacted Rumf ord Fair H ousing Act was
passed with the intent to elimin ate r acial discrimination in
the sa le or rental of cert ain kinds of housing in the State of
Ca lifornia ; and
WHEREAS, this Fair H ousing Act has not had an oppo rtunity
to be opera tive lo ng enough to determin e whether or not it is
in the best interests of the peopl e of the St ate of California;
• and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previ ously resolved that Palo
Alto sha ll continue to be a community of opportunity for all
person s regar dless of race, co lo r or creed.
BE IT RESOLVED tha t the Rumford Fair Housing Act be given
a fa ir trial of opera tion before r evision or repeal.
