EXBROISB OP EXTRA-TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION TO

CONSTRUCTION OP PUBLIC IMPROVEMEHTS AND TO PROVIDE
THAT THI COSTS SHALL BE ASSESSBD UPON THE DISTRICT

RESOLVED, by the Council of the City ot Palo Alto,
Cali!ornia, that
WHEREAS, it ia the intention ot this Council to undertake
appropriate special assessment and assessment bond proceedings
for ~oquie1t1on and construction ot improvements 1n said City, as
follows~ to-wit:
The acqu1s1t1on of easements neceas~ to obt•in a un1torm
right-ot-way width of 120 teet, including the acquisition
ot strips ot land 1n excess ot th9 land actually needed tor
street purposes lying outside or the proposed 120-toot
right-of-way and neoeaaar.1 to be acquired in order to avoid
severance damage~ for the purpose or providing on-street
parking areas tor local use and. benetit alone El Cllmi.no
Real from Matadero Creek to the southerly City limits ot
the City ot Palo Alto, and the .iiDproving t~reot by grading,
removing trees, bushes and ex1at1ng structures, construct
ing or reounstructing Portland cement concrete curbs,
gutters, aJ.dewalks and driveway aprons, constructing base
pavement and wearing aurtace, the installation ot street
lighting racilities, storm drain pipe, catch bas1na, inlet
structures and appurtenances, tog&ther with the acquisition
ot all eaeements and the construction ot all improvements
aUXiliary to any or the above and necessary to complete
the same.
WHEREAS~ a ~rt1on of said acquisition and improvements to
be made are within the unincorporated territory ot the County or
Santa Clara# and a portion of the lands to be assessed to pay
the costs and expenses thereot 11 unincorporated territory within
said County;

WHEREAS, the cost or said acquisitiona and improvements and
the expenses incidental thereto, other than the portions thereof
to be hereafter determined to be contributed by the Cit7 or paid
by the State or C&l1torn1a, are to be made charseable upon the

office or the City Clerk, which indicates by a boundary line the
extent of the territory included in the proposed district and •

which shall govern for all details as to the extent or the as8e8s-

WHEREAS 1 said acquisitions and improvements to be made are
of such a character that they will directly and peculiarly atrect
property not only ·within the boundaries or the City or Palo Alto,
but also the unincorporated territory within the County or Santa
'Clara 1 and the purposes sought to be accomplished can best be
• accomplished by a single oomprehensi v•e scheme of work;
• WHEREAS, there has been filed wi.th this ·Council a form ot
• • Resolution of Preliminary Determ.inat:i.on and of Intention to be
used 1n eaid proceed1ngsj and
WHEREAS., the public interest, ecmvenienoe and necessity will
b~ served by the making or said acquisitions and improvements and
the levying of said assessments.
NOW 1 THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED, as follows:
1. That request be., and the same 1a hereby, made or the
Board of Supervisors of the County or Santa Clara, 1t being the
leg1sl.at1ve body having jurisdiction over the urJincorporated ter
ritory in which a portion or said acquisitions and improvements
are to be had and made and said assessments. are to be levied,
grant to this City its consent 1 expressed by resolution, to the
orderlng or said acquisitions and 1mprovementa 1 to the formation
