IESOLUTION OF THE COUMCIL r6 TH! CI'lr 01 PALO ALTO
PROTESTING THE R!•ZONING Of THE PROPIRTY ADJACENT
TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO DOW AS 595 MADILL
A'V!NUE BY THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA
WHEREAS, Giacon~·and Rosa Sambuceto have filed an appli
cation for change of zoning district~ set for hearing MArch 4,
1964, before the Planning Commiaeion of the County of Santa
Clara, seeking to re-mone the property located on the north
e&dterly corner of Maybell and Park Avenues (also known as
595 Maybell Avenue, Palo Alto, California) from R•l:A (single
residence) and R-l:B-1 (single residence) to R•l2(multiple
residential) and;
WHEREAS, a group of residents of the City of Palo Alto
living in the area adjacent to the proposed change of zoning
district have expressed to the Council their concern in this
matter.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE to protest said application on each of the following
grounds:
1. That a high-rise apartment building on said site
would constitute a gross invasion of the privacy
of the residents of the surrounding area.

That the reaulta~t increase in traffic on Amaranta
Avenue, Coulombe A'\.'enue and Maybell Avenue would
aggravate a serious traffic problem already existing
in the area.
That the proposed construction would encroach upon
land which is particularly well suited to the
development of a much needed park in the area.
That the proposed increase in residential density
would necessitate the construction and maintenance
of numerous costly street improvements which would
be unduly burdensome to the City of Palo Alto.
