WHEREAS, the public interest and necessity require
the acqu181t1one end improvements hereinAfter aet forth:
NOW THEREFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED, That J. F. BYXBEE,
a public officer, to-wit: the City Engineer of the City of
Palo Alto, ie hereby apnointed and d~signated and dix•tjcted to
~)repare and furn!ah SPECIFICATIONS for the proposed
acquisition and improvement ot California Avenue batween
tha northeasterly line ot El Camino Real and the south-
westerly line of Alma Street as her~1nafter described,
said SPECIFICATIONS to include descriptions of all property
to b~ ac~lired, together with a map or plat showing the
same, the total sum of the estimated expense of said
ac-tu1s1tion {which expenses shall include the est!Lmatad
amount of just compensation and damagus, the esti~eted
expenses chargeable to the plaintiff in the condemnation
action, and the incidental expenses o.f the proceeding),
and all plana, profiles, croms-aect1ons and specifications
necessary for the improvement, togeth4:'r with a statement
of the estimated cost of the same lincluslve of inciuuntal
oxpensea and costs of the proeeed1n~), and also a
description or the proposed district to be ~ene!ited by
said acqllisi tion and improvement end to be lnown as the 1' Assess-
men District", and a map or plat showing the aame,
togather with the different zones within said district
and a statement as to what percentage shall be raised
from each zone; the said '1istr1ct to be known as
"Acquisition and !mprovement District No. 1 of the City
of Palo Alto".
Said acqu131tions and improvements include the
following:
Thet California Avenue from the northeasterly
line of El C~~ino Renl to the southwesterly
line of Alma Street be wictened from 60 feet tn
width to 90 feet. being wid~n~d 15 feet on each
side;
That California Avenue from the northeasterly
line of El Camino Real to the southwesterly
line of Alma Street be graded to official line
end grade; that water and sewer connections
be 1natallad l:>etwaen said points; that cement
concrete sidewalks, cement concrt!tte sidewalk
corners, cement concrete curbs, concrete gutters,
cement concrete driveways be constructod; that
the roadway between said points be paved with a
cement concrete base and an asphaltic surface;
and that ele~trol1ers be constructed between
said points. The material for said work and
the work to be done in accordance with the said
plans and specifications prepsrad by the City
Engineer.
